Janet Zaleski Burns, Ph.D. is the program coordinator for Career and Technical Education (CTE) in the Department of Middle, Secondary Education and Instructional Technology at Georgia State University (GSU) in Atlanta, Ga. She has been active in CTE for over 20 years and served as a national officer of National Association of Industrial and Technical Teacher Educators (NAITTE) holding the following positions: Research Chair 2002-2004, Editor of the Journal of Industrial Teacher Education (JITE) 2005-2007, and Trustee 2006-2009. She has served as a review panel member for the outstanding manuscript award for 2008, 2009 and 2010 for JITE.
She has published research in the Human Resource Development Quarterly, Career and Technical Education Research, Business Education Forum, and Journal of Industrial Teacher Education. She has presented papers at the Association of Career and Technical Education Research (ACTER) conference and American Education Research Association (AERA).
Dr. Burns is active on the state level as a SkillsUSA judge, and is on the board of directors for the Trade and Industrial Trade and Industrial Educators of Georgia (TIEGA). She has conducted numerous workshops across the state of GA for CTE teachers and administrators. At GSU she has served as a faculty senator, and served the College of Education as the Chair of the Professional Education Faculty.
